Maidencombe is one of the most secluded and beautiful beaches in Torbay, tucked away at the northern tip of the bay near the village of the same name. A steep, narrow lane leads down to a small car park, with the beach a short walk beyond. The cove is sandy and sheltered, with rock pools to explore at low tide and clear water for swimming. A thatched pub — the Thatched Tavern — sits at the top of the lane. It’s one of those beaches you feel like you’ve properly discovered, away from the summer crowds.
